Dr Tom Freeman, Senior Academic Fellow at King\u2019s College London, stated that \u201cfindings suggest that cannabidiol has promise as a novel treatment for tobacco addiction\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2018 study was done with 24 participants. This was a double-blind placebo study\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in which each person in the group received a random inhaler of either CBD or a placebo. Twelve individuals received the CBD inhalers while the other twelve received the placebo. Each person was instructed to use the inhaler when they had a craving to smoke. The test participants that used the CBD inhalers when their cravings kicked in saw a 40 percent reduction in tobacco use while the placebo participants showed no change in the amount of cigarettes they smoked within that same week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maureen Talbot, Senior Cardiac Nurse at the British Heart Foundation, said: \u201cThis small study demonstrates promising results with a drug that didn\u2019t seem to cause side effects and it will be interesting to see if a larger trial supports the findings.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is important to mention that even though this study showed significant results, there is still more research that needs to be done.
